Client Delivered in partnership with Coliban Water and S&R Engineering and Construction

Location West of Bendigo, Victoria, between Golden Square, Maiden Gully and Marong

When The project is being delivered in six sections, with works running from 2023 in two major phases

Scope Pipeline solution specification and supply of 17km worth of drinking water pipeline, consisting of three sizes—HDPE pipe at 560mm, 500mm, and 355mm—along with cream stripe sewer pipe in 315mm for an upgraded sewer main as an additional part of the works

With huge population growth happening in the west of Bendigo—and forecasts predicting it will continue at the same rate, or even increase, for at least the next decade—there’s a pressing need for sustainable, reliable civil infrastructure to deliver water in the area.

Working in close collaboration with Coliban Water and S&R Engineering and Construction, Clover has delivered essential work for the communities in Golden Square, Maiden Gully and Marong. The upgraded water main and distribution pipeline will increase capacity, reliability and efficiency of Bendigo’s water network, and cater for population growth in the community for decades to come.

The project will cater for significant forecast population growth in the Golden Square, Marong, and Maiden Gully communities

Our team is proud to have specified and supplied 1,288 lengths of pipe to support the installation of a 17km drinking pipeline. The project also consists of an upgraded sewer main with associated pipeline infrastructure between Maiden Gully and Marong.

Speaking about the project, Coliban Water’s Chief Officer of Assets and Operations, Danny McLean, offered the following:

“The project forms part of our Big Water Build, a five-year program of large-scale infrastructure projects designed to secure safe, reliable drinking water and sewerage services to support our growing population and the region’s continued growth and success.”

He continued:

“[This pipeline represents] a critical program [of work] that will safeguard the region against the impact of climate change, population growth, and ageing infrastructure.

DELIVERING COST-EFFECTIVE INNOVATION FOR SUSTAINABLE COMMUNITIES

Clover proudly maintains a strong track record of partnering with councils and LGAs to consistently deliver high quality pipeline systems: on time, under budget, and with more value for less investment. Working in partnership with Coliban Water and S&R Engineering and Construction, we achieved this through a blend of experience, collaboration, and forward-thinking solution design.

By specifying pipes in unique lengths, the team can reduce overall project cost.

Specifying pipe in lengths of 13 metres—as opposed to a standard 12-metre length—significantly reduced the effort associated with freighting and installation. Less joins in the pipe reduces the number of welds required, and makes the pipes easier to deliver, meaning fewer requirements for trucking logistics.

This approach, of strategically specifying unique product to minimise effort in delivery and installation, creates huge efficiencies and reductions for both cost and project timeframe.

Still, with those significant efficiencies, the logistical effort associated with supplying this amount of pipeline infrastructure—in a compressed six-week timeframe—is significant.

Over the course of more than 70 deliveries in that six-week window, the team was able to supply:

Over 70 truckloads were delivered in a six-week period, with transparency, collaboration and clear communication being key.

Through our collaboration with Coliban Water, and the installation team at S&R Engineering and Construction, we were able to continuously deliver truckloads of pipe, sometimes up to four per day, while keeping the process seamless and efficient for all parties.

We understand the importance of reliability, especially when delivering large quantities of product on tight schedules. Our team consistently goes above and beyond, ensuring everything arrives on time and in full. Through innovative problem-solving and dedication, we instil confidence in our clients, knowing they can depend on us to meet their needs without compromise.
